Heng Huat Fried Kway Tiao (興發炒粿條) - You Got to Feel Healthy after Seeing the Leafy Vegetables on Top @ Pasir Panjang Food Centre [Singapore]

Pasir Panjang Food Centre is no stranger to me and i am surprised it had been missed out in this blog with over 2,000 postings! I clearly remember dining there one night but a deep memory probing revealed that the lighting condition was bad then and picture quality for the BBQ stuff we ordered couldn't make the cut.

Oh well, i am back in the daytime this time and as i wasn't in the mood for barbecued food from the many stalls there; i decided to give the char kway teow a try. p.s. don't know why; i have been craving for noodles these few weeks!

Colleagues had warned me beforehand; it would be topped with a lot of green vegetables and they were not kidding!  I was expecting only a few pieces of vegetables and what i received did give a mental boost that i am going to have a healthy lunch that day!

False impression no doubt as it would just be a slightly less healthy lunch. Anyway, the cai xin (a leafy vegetable in Asia) wasn't fried together with the noodle and tasted pretty decent; crunchy and actually quite juicy.

As the boss didn't appear to be having a good mood, i didn't go on my normal special order of extra black sauce; hence what i had could have been sweeter even though it was already rather flavourful with a smoky undertone and the bits of chai po (Chinese dried radish) did a great job in enhancing the palatability of the dish.

At S$3 a plate, this was too small a portion and i cleaned it in no time. I was wondering why those behind me in the queue were ordering S$4 or S$5! Aside from asking for a bigger portion next time, i would remember to ask the boss to remove the cockles from my char way tiao!
