Sin Chew Satay Bee Hoon & Cuttlefish Kang Kong (星州沙爹米粉.鱿鱼蕹菜) @ Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre [Singapore]

Satay Bee Hoon - the first time i had it, i didn't understand why people would prefer this over real chicken / mutton / pork satay with gravy! Cuttlefish Kang Kong - who the heck invented this?!?!?

As one of my colleagues kindly shared with me a long time ago, i shall not belittle food as one man's meat could be another man's poison.

And it's with the above philosophy that i didn't reject, at least not vehemently, when a friend insisted on ordering the satay bee hoon and cuttlefish kang kong from this very popular stall at Bukit Timah Food Centre!

Cuttlefish Kang Kong
(鱿鱼蕹菜)
Let's begin with the cuttlefish kang kong; personally, i think people like this dish purely because of the kangkong, otherwise known as Chinese spinach. Other than the aforementioned reason, i thought this was nice with a generous sprinkling of sesame seeds that aromatised the dish, the sweet sauce (how could that ever be bad) and the sour-crunchy achar!

Satay Bee Hoon
(沙爹米粉)
Finally, the star for the stall and the one dish that attracted the longest queue in the entire hawker centre! Frankly, i didn't even know of its fame until i started asking my friends!

With a few slices of pork and cuttlefishes, one prawn and a number of cockles, i must admit the stall was lavish with the gravy although most importantly, it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and integrated perfectly with the thin strands of noodles.

It was no doubt good; however, given i have only one tummy and i am having a hard time losing weight, i think i would prefer to open my wallet (and tummy) for He Zhong White Carrot Cake instead!
