Feast Out @ Maxwell Road Food Centre (Maxwell Market)

It was supposed to be a pig-out night at 2 Days 1 Night Soju Bang (buffet section) but the big crowd outside the restaurant had immediately dampened any hope of getting in within the next half an hour.

And the eatery doesn't allow reservation!!! =(

One key benefit of living in Singapore? Food is always available within walking distance! And just a hundred (or two) meters away is the famous Maxwell Food Centre.

The above shows what the Gang of Four is capable of having in a typical hawker centre. By the way, that's not the "best" example. If not for my recovering stomach, we might order even more.

Let's focus on the chicken rice; the highly acclaimed Tian Tian (天天) Hainanese Chicken Rice! I blogged on this before and i am not deviating much from my review then.

Half a chicken was ordered and no one should be able to resist that tender piece of poultry meat. Minus that disgusting layer of fatty white skin.

Rice is a major deciding factor for many reviews on chicken rice. And i know of people who can never get enough of the rice in Tian Tian.

For me, it's this oily sauce underneath the chicken meat that hypes up the chicken rice in Tian Tian. Lubrication aside, the rice turned out to be more fragrant and appetising after mixing it with the sauce.

Note: don't mix too much! It will become too salty!!

This meal at Maxwell was definitely a feast for me as i was down with explosive diarrhea and had to go through a few days of mandatory fasting. Elaboration is not required (i know) but the more i ate, the more i had to go!

Pity pictures are not available to show how bad it was.
